“I'm a supporter of gay rights. And not a closet supporter either. From the time I was a kid, I have never been able to understand attacks upon the gay community. There are so many qualities that make up a human being... by the time I get through with all the things that I really admire about people, what they do with their private parts is probably so low on the list that it is irrelevant.” Paul Newman
This is some snapshots of London Pride in July 2009
I have had so many conversations with people whether it is due to their age or culture they would be considered homophobic for the views. The conversations always convey that they feel that gay presence in the form of the Gay Pride Festivals is obnoxious and unnecessary. My response in these anti gay themed conversations is pretty much what the Paul Newman quote above reads... how does it affect you really?
At the pride event in London I spoke to many “straight people” (whatever that means really) and saw so many heterosexual couples enjoying the parade and all the festivities.....I think the bottom line is who really cares if they are holding a Gay Pride Festival in your town...it is a party that everyone is invited to if you don’t want to partake...then don’t!
I myself enjoyed a huge box of sushi sitting on the pavement outside Soho Square and danced around the roads leading into the closed off Picadilly Circus and enjoyed the lack of London traffic for once!

“The Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international treaties specify that everyone is entitled to equal protection under the law. But people who challenge sexual and gender norms regularly experience discrimination related to housing, social security, and employment, such as when they are denied jobs because of their appearance or evicted from their homes because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. ” International Gay Lesbian Human Rights Commission
